If you are living in or will be travelling to a foreign country, you will probably need some local cash to buy souvenirs and pay for meals and drinks, etc everywhere you go except for upscale shops, hotels, and restaurants
All major Chinese banks have branches in Sanya.
The Bank of China, Bank of Communications and China Construction Bank will all accept cards from international banks for ATM transactions, however it may not be possible to use cards issued overseas in the ATM machines of some other Chinese banks.
Foreign currency exchange is available over the counter at all major banks, at the airport’s international terminal and at most top-end hotels and even some high-end shopping malls and department stores.
Be aware that a small fee will be charged for transactions between different banks and different regions and countries.
Banks are open for business every day - from 08.30 to 17.00 Monday to Friday and from 10.00 to 16.00 on the weekend.
